Join us for Humans in AI Week | The AI Collective – Pretoria 1- 8 June 2026, every AI Collective chapter around the world will host simultaneous public events across 200+ cities and 50+ countries — one week, one global conversation. It is set to become the largest coordinated civilian conversation about artificial intelligence ever organised. The AI era is being built right now, and the humans behind it matter more than ever. Humans in AI Week is dedicated to the human layer of AI — the people, ethics, ideas, and communities shaping the future of this technology. This is the Pretoria edition — your opportunity to connect with the people shaping AI locally while participating in a global moment happening in real time across the world. 📅 Date: Thursday, 4 June 2026 🕕 Time: 18h00 – 20h00 Provisional Programme 18h00 – 18h30 | Meet and greet 18h30 – 18h45 | Welcome and introductions 18h45 – 19h45 | Featured speaker session and discussion 19h45 – 20h00 | Questions and closing Featured Speaker: Dr Edmund Terem Ugar Dr Edmund Terem Ugar is a PhD researcher, tutor, and interdisciplinary scholar whose work focuses on artificial intelligence ethics, philosophy of technology, medical ethics, and emerging technologies in African contexts. His doctoral research explores the development of ethical machine learning technologies for clinical diagnosis, with a particular focus on facial recognition technology in healthcare environments. Dr Ugar has published extensively on AI governance, digital ethics, meaningful work in the age of automation, African philosophy and personhood, data justice, and the societal implications of emerging technologies. His work has appeared in publications including Philosophy and Technology, Patterns: Cell Press, Mail & Guardian, and several international journals focused on technology, ethics, and public policy.
