## Description
Cursor Hackathon with ALT+TAB: AI-Driven Urban Solutions

📅 Date: Saturday, June 6 ⏰ Time: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM 📍 Location: ALT+TAB Incubation Center

Technology is not just for creating; it is for understanding, improving, and taking responsibility.

Organized in collaboration between the ALT+TAB Incubation Center and Cursor Istanbul, this hackathon aims to take technology out of the realm of abstract concepts and place it squarely at the heart of real-world urban life. Our primary motivation is to foster a culture of AI-driven project development to create public solutions that benefit the broader community.

Data collected from the camera systems of waste collection vehicles owned by Güngören Municipality will be processed using computer vision and artificial intelligence techniques to create a digital map of the city. Our goal goes beyond simply identifying street signs; we aim to use public resources more efficiently, accelerate digital transformation in local governments, and build a technological foundation for sustainable urban management.

🧭 Our Principles and Values

1\. Responsible and Ethical Artificial Intelligence

We are fully aware that every algorithm we develop and every line of code we write has societal implications.

Technology as a Tool: We view artificial intelligence not as an end in itself, but as a lever to serve humanity.

Human Dignity and Privacy: Our pursuit of efficiency must never take precedence over fundamental rights and freedoms.

Social Benefit: Technological progress is only considered a true success when it benefits all segments of society.

Concrete Solutions: Our true value begins the moment code steps off the screen and touches a person’s life.

2\. Culture of Production and Shared Space

ALT+TAB is more than four walls; it is an ecosystem of production, sharing, and collective responsibility.

Collaboration-Based Production: We use this space within a framework of cooperation, courtesy, and mutual respect.

Competition of Ideas: In our world, ideas—not people—compete; the best idea grows as it is shared.

Openness and Transparency: We do not hoard knowledge; we encourage learning and teaching together.

Ownership of the Space: Every participant is both a founder and a guardian of this ecosystem.

3\. Mission: Understanding the City, Improving Life

This hackathon is not merely a software development process, but an initiative to generate public benefit by reinterpreting the city through data:

Data-Driven Decision-Making: Making the right decisions based on real data, not predictions.

Efficient Public Services: Strengthening municipal services by overcoming staffing and time constraints through technology.

Sustainability: Creating a model for future smart cities without wasting resources.

💻 Technical and Operational Framework

4\. Tech Stack & Development Culture

Throughout the hackathon, teams are expected to adhere to the following tech stack and AI-driven development principles:

Web: Next.js

Cross-Platform (Mobile): Expo (The architectural structure will be provided during the hackathon.)

Backend: Go (Golang) (The architectural structure will be provided during the hackathon, and teams must strictly adhere to this structure.)

Development Environment: Full compatibility with Cursor IDE. It is mandatory to create an “Agentic” ruleset configuration for projects.

Infrastructure (Hosting): Vercel for web projects, Render.com for backend services.

External API: Google Street View API (The first 10,000 requests are free; this limit is sufficient for the hackathon).

⚠️ Important Note: A detailed “Technical Requirements Checklist” will be provided to all teams one hour before the event begins (at 10:00 a.m.). Compliance with this checklist is strictly required during the project development process.
5\. KVKK and Data Security
Although the data processed in this project is generated in public spaces, it may contain elements that qualify as personal data. The following principles are mandatory:
Purpose Limitation: Models may only be used for urban objects such as sign recognition; identification, profiling, or tracking of vehicles/individuals is strictly prohibited.
Mandatory Anonymization: Human faces and vehicle license plates must be irreversibly anonymized or blurred before model training begins.
Data Minimization & Deletion: Models must produce only the outputs required by the task. All raw images must be deleted and documented in writing at the end of the hackathon.
Security: Raw data may not be uploaded to unencrypted cloud storage or public GitHub repositories. Violations result in disqualification.
🏆 Awards, Eligibility, and Evaluation
Award eligibility is determined based on the scoring conducted by the jury. However, award distribution is contingent upon the project’s functionality being verified. An impressive presentation cannot substitute for technical validation.
Jury Composition: A jury of at least three members, comprising technical and public sector representatives, will conduct the evaluation.

🎁 Prizes
🥇 1st Place Team: 20,000 TL + 600 Cursor Credits
🥈 2nd Place Team: 15,000 TL + 400 Cursor Credits
🥉 3rd Place Team: 10,000 TL + 200 Cursor Credits
💡 Additionally, every participant who has the courage to join the event will receive 50$ worth of Cursor Credits per person. (Credits will be awarded on a team basis.)
Evaluation Criteria
Projects will be evaluated by the jury on a total scale of 100 points. The highest weighting, at 30 points, is assigned to the Technical Functionality criterion, which covers error-free compilation of the code, live demo performance, and architectural compatibility. The Accuracy and Reliability criterion, which measures the detection success rate and stability of the computer vision model, is worth 25 points, while Public Benefit Alignment—which evaluates the potential of the solution to address an urban or public issue—is worth 20 points.
Additionally, the effective use of Cursor IDE, the Agentic architecture, and AI tools will be evaluated under the “AI Adaptation” heading, worth 10 points; full compliance with data anonymization and privacy regulations will be assessed under “KVKK and Ethical Compliance,” also worth 10 points. Finally, the project’s overall presentation, the README file, and in-code documentation created with Cursor will be scored under the Presentation and Documentation criterion, earning you 5 points.
💡 Bonus Point Opportunity: Teams that develop specific projects/modules suggested by the organizers on Hackathon day will be awarded extra points.

Corporate Viability Requirement: To be eligible for a cash prize, the following 4 conditions must be met:
Live demo,
Reproducible results,
Submission of executable source code,
KVKK data deletion/anonymization certificate.
(In the event of a tie, the team with the higher “Technical Viability” score will be given priority.)
⏱️ Hackathon Schedule
10:00 - 11:00 | Pre-Hackathon & Briefing: Introductions and distribution of the “Technical Requirements Checklist” to teams.
11:00 | Start: Presentation of project details, architectural frameworks (Expo & Go), and data access.
11:00 - 17:00 | Hackathon: Non-stop AI-driven development process.
After 17:00 | Presentation & Evaluation: Live demos of the developed public solutions, jury presentation, and final report.
Conclusion
This 6-hour process is not merely a time for writing code; it is a declaration of a shared vision on how artificial intelligence can be integrated into addressing social issues.
We are part of a community that creates, questions, and bears the responsibility of technology on our shoulders. We are not just waiting for the future; we are building it together. 🚀
